The Core Problem

Preserving Language to Protect Cultural Identity

Despite its immense historical and cultural importance, the Gujarati language is gradually becoming like a disappearing language in society. Today, parents and educational institutions frequently give excessive importance to English, causing children and youth to view Gujarati as an unnecessary language.

Due to rapid social and economic shifts, even native Gujaratis often do not communicate with each other in their mother tongue. Speaking Gujarati is sometimes viewed with hesitation, and reading in Gujarati is steadily declining. The loss of a native language eventually leads to the loss of our deep cultural identity—a transition that is deeply concerning.
